Today the rider of Astana Qazaqstan Development Team Mattia Negrente won in GP Goriška & Vipava Valley in Slovenia.

The Slovenian one-day race with the total distance of 150 kilometers turned out with a success for the Astana Qazaqstan Development Team thanks to the victory of Mattia Negrente. Mattia started his season strong with the second place in GC at the Visit South Aegean Islands in Greece, and today Mattia claimed his first victory in his debut season for the team.

Mattia Negrente about today’s success: «Today was a great day, a race with a particularly interesting route and short climbs in the repetetive laps that were good for me. In the last kilometers the speed in the group increased significantly, and we were all riding almost at our maximum, it was a real battle and I am glad that I managed to avoid crashes. My teammates did a great job today, in the final I decided to start my sprint with 200 meters to go and pushed as hard as I could. This is my first win of the season and I’m very, very happy about it.”

Team Sports Director Alexander Shushemoin about today’s victory: “The team performed very well today, the guys worked as a team and each of them completed their own tasks. Simone Zanini and Andrey Remkhe were confidently controlling the situation in the race, then Max Walker attacked and was caught only with a lap before the finish. In the final Savelii Laptev worked well for Negrente who showed good speed and took a victory. Now, we have some days to recover and get ready for the upcoming start on the 24th of March”.
