Tour of Turkey. Gleb Syritsa is second in Stage One

Gleb Syritsa showed great form after two wins in Le Tour de Langkawi last week, finishing second behind Jasper Philipsen in Stage One of the Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey in Antalya.

It was a very fast and powerful sprint, where Astana Qazaqstan Team did a perfect job for Syritsa, who could get a good spot on the wheel of Philipsen. Gleb launched his sprint with some 150 meters to go but could not pass Alpecin-Deceuninck rider and finished second.

“Well, I did all I could, but Jasper was the fastest today. I could not do more to win this stage, so I have to be satisfied with my second place. It’s a pity because I wanted to deliver this victory to my team, to all the guys, who worked so great all day long. We had amazing team today and all the boys were just incredible. In the end Alexey Lutsenko made a super lead out, while Cees Bol placed me ideally on the wheel of Philipsen. Indeed, it was a fantastic team job today”, – said Gleb Syritsa.
