Anton Kuzmin signs with Astana Qazaqstan Team

Anton Kuzmin from Kazakhstan (26) will continue his professional career in Astana Qazaqstan Team; the rider signed a one-year contract with the team for the season of 2024.

Kuzmin turned pro in 2020, spending two seasons in the UCI Pro Continental team and getting a valuable experience in a number of big professional races as Il Lombardia, Milano-Torino, Vuelta a Andalucia, Vuelta a Murcia, Tour of the Alps and others.

“I have been cheering for Astana team since childhood, I have always followed the races in which the team took part, rejoiced at the successes of the leaders of Astana. The great history of the project has always been a great motivation for me, gave me strength on the way to the heights of cycling. I aspired to be a part of the team, to get onto the WorldTour. Now the dream is coming true, but I know that there is a huge amount of work to be done to prepare for my first season in the WorldTour, to become a true professional and prove myself from the best side. I am ready to work hard to achieve my goals and to help the team to achieve success”, – said Anton Kuzmin.

In 2023 Kuzmin won a stage of the Tour of Thailand and the Tour of Kandovan, became third in the General Classification of the Tour of Iran, fourth in the Tour of Istanbul and fifth in the Tour of Sharjah.

“Two more Kazakh riders will join our project in the upcoming riders, and this is a nice thing. In addition to Daniil Marukhin, Anton Kuzmin will also appear in Astana Qazaqstan Team next year. In 2023 he spent a very good season, achieving notable results. I think he deserves his chance to try his forces in the WorldTour. Like Daniil, Anton has potential, motivation and desire to prove himself, the desire to achieve something significant in cycling. There is a lot of work ahead, but it seems to me that the guys are ready to work”, – said Alexandr Vinokurov, General Manager of Astana Qazaqstan Team.
