Tour of Qinghai Lake. Henok Mulubrhan secures the points jersey and takes fourth place in GC
From the 7th to the 14th of July Astana Qazaqstan Team competed in the Tour of Qinghai Lake in China. Today in the final stage of 120.6 kilometers in Menyuan Henok Mulubrhan secured his lead in the points classification and finished the race fourth overall, with another rider of Astana Qazaqstan Team Santiago Umba finishing seventh in the GC.
“It was a good race, the teams brought very strong riders and it was a tough competition. It was hard to claim a victory, I did my best to achieve it and ended up with the points jersey and fourth place in GC. I would like to thank the whole team and staff for their work and for believing in me”, – said Henok Mulubrhan.
“The guys did their best, but this time our contenders were stronger. Obviously, we came here looking for a higher result, we wanted to achieve a stage win at least and we were very close to this result in the third stage where Henok (Mulubrhan) finished second. We are leaving this race as the best Asian team, Henok managed to maintain his lead in the sprint classification and took fourth place overall along with Santiago (Umba), who finished the race seventh in the GC”, – said the team’s Sports Director Alexander Shushemoin.
