Tour of Turkey. Alexey Lutsenko is second in Stage Six, increases his GC lead

The Kazakh champion Alexey Lutsenko finished second in Stage Six, the last stage with a summit finish. Lutsenko followed the attack of Victor Langellotti but could not close it to the finish line. However, with this second place Astana Qazaqstan Team rider increased his lead in the General Classification of the Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey.

“The team was just incredible today! All the guys! I want to thank all my teammates, it was something special. Mark Cavendish and Gleb Syritsa did a huge job in front, chasing the break and protecting our interests. Then, it was Michele Gazzoli, who helped me a lot. A big thank to Cees Bol, he was phenomenal today! And in the end Harold Tejada was always next to me on the final climb, also setting the pace and chasing the attacks of the rivals. I knew this climb and I knew it won’t be easy to win today. However, I tried and I was close, but finished second. My congratulations to Victor Langellotti, it was a good punch. Anyway, I am quite happy with the stage and that I could protect and even extend my lead in the General Classification. There are two more stages in this race, and we have to keep our focus high until the finish in Istanbul”, – said Alexey Lutsenko.

With only two stages to go Lutsenko has 26 seconds on Ben Zwiehoff and 51 seconds on his teammate Harold Tejada.
