Astana Qazaqstan Team riders triumph at the Asian Cycling Championships

The riders of Astana Qazaqstan Team, competing for Kazakhstan National Team, got a complete triumph at the Asian Cycling Championships, ended today in Rayong, Thailand.

Gleb Brussenskiy and Yevgeniy Gidich took a beautiful double victory in the Elite road race (156 km), winning the gold and the silver medal, respectively.

“It was a tough race with a lot of attacks from the start to the finish. With some 25 km to go I attacked and was followed by Yevgeniy Gidich, Dmitriy Gruzdev and a few rivals. The gap was a small one, but in a crosswind, Dmitry pushed so hard in front so we could break away clear. After a new attack there remained only me, Yevgeniy and Arashiro in front of the race. We knew that the sprint is always a bit of lottery, especially after such a tough and exhausting race, so I decided to attack again with 2 km to go and it did work perfectly, bringing me this nice victory. I am really happy and proud with this success. It was good to win Under 23 title last year, so it is something special to repeat it and to win Elite title today. I want to thank all my teammates, Dmitriy Gruzdev, Yevgeniy Gidich, Yevgeniy Fedorov and Igor Chzhan for a huge support today”,– said Gleb Brussenskiy.

A few days earlier Yevgeniy Fedorov took a back-to-back win in the Elite individual time trial (46 km), repeating his success of 2022.

“It was my goal to try to win again the individual time trial at the Asian Championships, so I just did my best on that day, pushing as hard as possible during the whole distance. The weather conditions were far from the optimal, but I managed to deal with it. I am really happy to bring to Kazakhstan another gold medal and it was nice to get it again after my success back in 2022”, – said Yevgeniy Fedorov.

At the start of the Asian Cycling Championships Yevgeniy Fedorov, Dmitriy Gruzdev and Igor Chzhan together with Marina Kuzmina, Rinata Sultanova and Makhabbat Umutzhanova won the Mixed Relay.

Alongside, the rider of Astana Qazaqstan Development Team Andrey Remkhe won the gold medal in the Under 23 individual time trial.
