Christian Scaroni extended with Astana Qazaqstan Team

Italian rider Christian Scaroni (26) extended his contract with Astana Qazaqstan Team for another season of 2024.

“My main goal in the upcoming year is to achieve a victory, and I will try to do everything possible to bring to the team at least one win. This year I had several podiums and a lot of Top-10, but I didn’t manage to win. I hope that next season everything will be much better. Besides, I’d like to generally confirm my level, my results in the races that I have demonstrated this year. It’s true that our team has changed a lot, a lot of strong riders are coming in the new season, both to help Mark Cavendish and to strengthen other directions. I am sure that the team will succeed, and I would like to be a part of it, to make my contribution to repay the team for the trust and the opportunities that were given to me”, – said Christian Scaroni.

Christian Scaroni has spent his 2023 season on a high level. His main result is second place in the General Classification of the Arctic Race of Norway, but among his other results are 7th place in Coppa Bernocchi, 8th place in a stage of the Giro d’Italia, 9th place in GP Industria & Artigianato and in the road race of the Italian National Championships and 10th place in Gran Premio Miguel Indurain.

“Christian is a strong rider with ample opportunities, first of all, in the classics and one–day races. He scored several significant results this year, however, he failed to fully reveal himself due to health problems that plagued many riders and many teams during this year. Let’s hope that everything will be different in the new season, that the preparation will go according to plan, and then in the races we can hope that Christian and all other guys will be able to fully show their potential”, – said Alexandr Vinokurov, General Manager of Astana Qazaqstan Team.
