Daniil Marukhin – newcomer of Astana Qazaqstan Team

Kazakh rider Daniil Marukhin (24) is going to make a big step into the WorldTour with Astana Qazaqstan Team. Marukhin signed a two-year deal with the Kazakh project (for 2024 and 2025).

“Signing a contract with Astana Qazaqstan Team is a big step for me. From the early years of my career, I had a clear goal – to become a professional rider, to get to Astana, to wear the jersey of the main cycling team of Kazakhstan. Over the past few years, I have seriously improved, hard work has begun to give the first results at the continental level, and now I am very happy that I can continue my work, the path to my goals in one of the best teams in the world. I know that I can prove myself in the WorldTour, I can become the rider who is able to help the team and can achieve his personal results. I am looking forward to the new season, I have a serious attitude and great motivation”, – said Daniil Marukhin.

Daniil Marukhin has spent six seasons in different continental teams from Kazakhstan, scoring a set of high results both on the regional and continental levels. In 2023 Marukhin won the Tour of Van, Grand Prix Kültepe and became third in the 100th Anniversary Tour of Republic in Turkey, took a sixth place in the General Classification of the Tour of Iran and Aziz Shusha. Besides, for several times Daniil reached the podium of the Kazakhstan National Championships and U23 Asian Cycling Championships.

“Over the past two years Daniil has shown himself really well in the continental calendar, so it is quite logical that the moment has come when the rider got his chance in the main domestic team in the UCI WorldTour. We have been following Daniel’s performances and progress for a long time, his growth is obvious. Of course, the WorldTour is a completely different world, which requires selfless work and full dedication to cycling. But the athlete demonstrates high motivation and desire to work in order to become a good professional rider”, – said Alexandr Vinokurov, General Manager of Astana Qazaqstan Team.
